Allison Friedman began playing ultimate in college in 2006 with the GW women’s ultimate frisbee team. She fell in love with the sport and continued to play club mixed and masters after graduating from college. Allison is a member of the DEVYL board and equity and safety committee and has been coaching with Westfield’s ultimate frisbee program since 2017. She looks forward to growing the sport and sharing what she loves about it with our female athletes.
Janine has been playing ultimate frisbee for 12 years! She started playing with Rutgers Nightshade from 2014-2018. Since then, Janine has played club ultimate with women’s and mixed teams such as BENT, Jughandle, and XIST. She also played professionally with NY Gridlock. Janine’s coaching experience includes Rutgers Nightshade for 6 years and the U20 Girls Devyl Team for 2 years.
Sophie caught the ultimate frisbee bug in 2010 when she started playing for Anarchy, the women's team at The College of New Jersey. Her love and dedication to the sport earned her Team MVP her senior year. She moved to Atlanta in 2014 to pursue her PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and used her final year of college eligibility playing with Georgia Tech's women's team, Wreck. While in Atlanta, she coached the Paideia girls' JV team for three years and Georgia Tech's women's B team for one season. After moving back to the Northeast, Sophie was thrilled to join the DEVYL board in 2022, driven by her passion for youth ultimate. She has played on a variety of teams in the women's and mixed club divisions, including Atlanta Ozone, Atlanta Outbreak, Atlanta Loveshack, Atlanta M'Kay, NJ Expendables, NJ Encore, and NYC Swipes. Now retired from club-level Ultimate, she remains involved in DiscNY's Adult Learning Leagues, having commissioned/coached four times—helping adults learn the sport in a structured, supportive, and spirited environment.
Beth has been actively involved in the Ultimate Frisbee community since she joined the sport at The College of New Jersey in 2008. She is a founding member of the TCNJ’s women’s team, Anarchy, and has played club ultimate in New Jersey since 2010. Beth has competed at the highest of levels within USA Ultimate’s Coed Club Division. When she isn’t playing Ultimate, she teaches middle school Math and coaches Ultimate Frisbee in Westfield. She has coached the Westfield Girls’ Team, the High School Boys’ B team, and the middle school teams. Beth has been involved with the DEVYL program since 2015 by being a Field Manager for the Youth Club Championships in Minnesota. At YCCs, she organized the behind-the-scenes logistics ensuring that all teams from the program had the resources they needed to make the weekend successful. She looks forward to continuing in her role as the Chair of the Boar
Jess has been playing Ultimate since 2007. Her career began in college with the Cornell Roses and she has been on both mixed and women’s club teams coast to coast. Jess currently plays for New Jersey’s club women’s team, Pine Baroness, where she also serves as their Spirit Captain. She has been coaching college women’s teams on and off since 2013 (Columbia, University of Idaho, & Princeton) and also enjoys being part of MCUDL’s summer leagues!
Ashley started playing Ultimate in 7th grade for Westfield. She has been playing Ultimate for about 10 years across DEVYL U-20 Valkyries, Duke Swerve, PBNJ, Jughandle, and club teams in India. Ashley coached middle school and high school programs during her time in North Carolina. As frisbee has given her some of her best memories and friends, she loves to give back through coaching the next generation of female matching players!
